Update

Hm, it seems like I totally forgot about this nice blog :( Actually, I didn\’t have anything to write, so I skipped it for some time, but now I though would be nice to drop couple of lines, so here is a short update on how it is going at my side:

1. Still attending college. This establishment consumes a lot of my resources like money, health, time, without giving me much back. Hopefully this will finish one day.

2. Playing Quake 3 Arena again. It\’s been few years since I played Q3A, but now I am back. I\’ve also brought some more people with me.

3. Trying CPMA mod for Q3A (instead of normal OSP I used to play). Looks cool, fast, tricky. The only thing is that it is too sharp (meaning the movements) and I don\’t like that much :( We\’ll see.

4. Waiting for Christmas. Wanna some rest

Back to School

I am back to the college university for my studies. This time I was very surprised with the bloody prices – they grow too fast. I took 4 subjects (13 credits/hours per week) and my bill came up to CYP 2200+ which is way too much. They also increased the initial deposits from CYP 400 to CYP 500 and so on and so forth. Hopefully I will finish my studies kinda soon and manage to get rid of this expenses (plus CYP 200 per months for petrol which I spend going to Nicosia and back 4 times a week).

Good point is that I managed to take evening (or at least after lunch) courses, so I don\’t have to wake up at 5 AM each morning. I prefer to come home a bit later (10 PM or so) instead of morning trips.

Now I am waiting for Christmas :)

No more math!

Finally! I have managed to pass all those math classes required to get CS bachelor. I really hate math and have huge difficulties with anything related to the subject. Now, after I passed the Linear Algebra exam, the only difficult class left is General Physics 2, the rest is more or less fine since it has direct connection to CS.

BTW, the grade for LA was D+ (I didn\’t buy any books, and skipped few classes and didn\’t study anything except from what I have seen during classes and couple of hours of reading related internet sites before exam)

College days

I really, really hate these pre-college days when I need to do a bunch of arrangements and a lot of trips to Nicosia in order to fix the fees, registration and visa stuff in my college. That\’s all makes me feel exosted and I really, really hate it once again!

Rack installation

We are currently in the process of migrating old unbranded 42U cabling-only (not deep) rack to new HP (10K series) one which have to contain old patch panels (9 of them) and other cabling stuff as well as 5 1U HP ProLiant DL360 servers. Very routine task but I really like it.

All patched panels were already transferred (with a bit of reorganization). Additional wire managers were installed. New power pallet units were added (very nice ones from HP for better power system). New servers are also mounted and so on, just have to finish minor stuff and I will post some pics :)

Two things pissed me off: 1 – HP now supplies screws (the ones to mount stuff in the rack) which need alien key (thanks God I had old normal screws I used), 2 – HP had changed the normal side panels (one per side) to some tricky 3-part-per-side panels. I took us some time to figure out how to set those parts up and it turned out to be not-that-comfortable to work with em.
