Favourite Keyboards Shortcuts

I wonder what kind of keyboard shortcuts people use the most and for which purposes? I, for instance, here is what I use the most:

Alt+1, Alt+2,.. Alt-4 – switching between virtual desktops in KDE

Ctl+C, Ctlr+V, Ctrl+X and Ctlr+A – copy, paste, cut and select all in almost any app

Ctrl+Shift+N, Shift+Right/Left – Create new tab and switch right/left between tabs in Konsole.

Shift+PageUP/Down – scrolling the Konsole

Ctrl+F – find in many apps, mostly firefox though

I am also trying to memorize Ctrl+PageUP/Down for switch tabs in firefox. Long time I am trying to start using them with slow progress :(

  1. I don’t use Alt+1 … Alt+N. Instead, I always configure KDE to work with Ctrl-Left, Ctrl-Right, Ctrl-Up, Ctrl-Down to move around virtual desktops. I find it much easier to navigate by location, rather than by number. I guess this is from the times when I used AfterStep.

My most used shortcuts in KDE are Alt-F2 to “Run Command”, and Alt-F3 to access window properties (mostly use Maximize, Advanced, and Destop placing). Alt-F4 also comes to mind to close the window.

  2. I like the idea with Ctrl-Right/Left/Up/Down, but all my desktops are in one line on the desktop pager so I will end up with Right/Left only :)

Alt-F3 is kinda useless for me in many cases since I usually switch to the desired desktop before open the window and the only apps that are fullscreen for me are Konsole (which is opens fullscreed initially) and Mozilla, where I use F11 to go fullscreen :) I do not need any other properties for windows in most cases.

Alt-F2 is cool, but I rarely need since all most used apps are opened at start-up (mozilla, konsole, kontact, licq) and the rest are usually called from those first ones while trying to open something :)

Anyway, I liked the idea with Ctrl- :)))
If you need to move windows between desktops quite often, I can advice you something like Ctrl+Alt+
as shortcut for moving current windows :) I used to have it with Ctrl+Alt+ though :)
