		<description>Have you found a solution for this? It's happening to me on Fedora 7. Disabling the Composite fixes it but then I lose use of Beryl.</description>

		<description>This might be the way, but then all the effects provided by AIGLX and Composite will go away :).

Maybe there is a way to tweak things around so everything will work :)</description>

the problem seems to be related to X composite option.
Try prepending your xorg.conf with:

Section "ServerFlags"
        Option  "AIGLX" "off"

Section "Extensions"
        Option "Composite" "Disable"
